News and InformationNew Missionaries in CyprusDate Added: 01 Nov, 2005
Both Ruth, who is Welsh, and Rob, who is American, grew up in Africa where our parents were missionaries. We met in boarding school in Kenya, and returned to our home countries for university. After obtaining our degrees, we were married and settled in Newport, South Wales, where we are members of Malpas Road Evangelical Church. A short time after settling in Wales, God led Rob to Care for the Family (a Christian charity), where he worked as a graphic designer using his degree in Graphic Design and Interactive Multi-media Production. About two years ago, we saw evidence of God opening doors to serve Him in reaching Muslims for Christ. Middle East Christian Outreach (MECO) had been looking for someone to fill the position of Publicity Manager for several years. Together, with our church, we feel that this is an exciting ministry that God has called us to. Rob, as Publicity Manager, will be managing the publicity for all of MECO's sending countries. This will include editing and designing the magazine, prayer leaflets and website, as well as travelling in the Middle East and developing strategies for how to best communicate the work of MECO. We will be based in MECO's International Services Office in Cyprus, allowing easier access for visiting different ministries and communicating what God is doing there. Apart from caring for our daughter, Amber, Ruth hopes to help with editing publicity materials, and to be involved in hospitality for other missionaries. There is also a possibility of being involved in youth projects to encourage young people in churches 'back home' to become more interested in mission. We've recently completed a one year course at Redcliffe Bible College in Gloucester, and are now hoping to leave for Cyprus in January 2006.
